
- Position swaddling wrap on a flat surface so it looks like a diamond.
Fold the top corner down approximately 15cm.
- Fold left corner of the blanket of the baby’s body so it comfortably hugs the baby’s arms and chest.
- Lift the bottom corner over the baby’s body and tuck under the baby’s left shoulder making sure it is smooth.
- Lift the right corner over baby’s body, then all the way around body tucking in at the fold near baby’s left shoulder.
- Position you baby on their back.
- Wrap below the neck with the face uncovered (please note that fabric near the baby’s cheeks can stimulate a response and wake them).
- Wrap baby in a natural position – do not straighten.
- Do not wrap too tight, allow for hip and chest wall movement.
- Ensure baby is not overdressed under the wrap.
- Bed sharing with baby can be hazardous especially when wrapped.
